Coin Tavern Relics

Stage rewards, shop picks, and synergy planning for every run

In Coin Tavern, relics are the persistent modifiers you layer onto a coin deck between stages—after you pay the tavern debt but before the next target rises. Woven Dream Isle’s full vision includes roughly two hundred relics; the public demo exposed about eighty, enough to show how dramatically the right pick can reshape a flip run. Relics can add flips, reward destroys, buff a faction tag, or rewrite shop odds, so they belong in the same planning pass as Coins and Gems.

Start with Relics Overview for timing and categories, then study Relic Synergies before your next ticket shop. New players should read How to Play first so debt clears and ticket income make sense.

Where relics sit in the run loop

Each stage is a debt race: flip coins for a limited number of rounds, accumulate money, and hit the target before the creditor closes the tab. Clear the check and you typically earn tickets—shop currency—plus occasional hammers or bonus items. The relic shop appears in that breathing room, letting you spend tickets on one or more relic offers before the next stage’s higher target.

Relics are run-long for practical purposes: once picked, they keep firing until the run ends. That makes a bad relic pick a slow leak and a great pick a compound interest machine across later debt tiers.

Why relic planning matters as much as coin drafting

Coin drafts answer “what flips this round?” Relics answer “what kind of run is this becoming?” A Monster spawn deck without destroy payoffs still clears early debt; add a relic that pays on destroy and the same coins suddenly spike. A Machine metal ladder without extra flips still grows; add a first-flip guarantee relic and merges happen more often.

Because relic effects stack, mid-run shops are pivot points. Use Relic Synergies to avoid picks that fight your board—relics that shrink effective field space hurt Beast spawns, while relics that reward clutter help wide boards more than slim plunder decks.

Relic categories you will see

Rather than listing hundreds of names, think in effect families detailed further in Relics Overview:

  • Flip action — extra tosses, jump bonuses, pattern guarantees.
  • Economy — flat money, ticket discounts, hammer refunds.
  • Spawn and tokens — eggs, fish, bees, or basic coins after triggers.
  • Destroy and consume — payouts when fodder leaves the board.
  • Faction bias — Humans, Monsters, Beasts, or Machines tag payoffs.
  • Shop and meta — rerolls, extra relic slots, gem interactions.

Cross-link coin roles from Humans, Monsters, Beasts, and Machines when evaluating a family.

Demo versus full release

The demo’s ~80 relic subset already supported diverse builds—egg transforms, fisherman multipliers, skull counts, shop refreshes, and flat money safety nets. The remaining ~120 planned relics will widen niche archetypes without changing the core rule: relics amplify what your coins already do. Expect tier shuffles after major patches; treat rankings as guides, not law.

Coin Tavern shipped on 23 July 2026 for Steam as a single-player roguelike. Confirm balance notes on the official store page when returning after updates.

Suggested learning path

  1. Clear one run focusing only on coin roles (Coins Hub).
  2. Replay noting one relic family that matched your board each shop.
  3. Read Relic Synergies and adjust the third run’s shop picks deliberately.
  4. Compare results on the Relics Tier List and iterate in the Deck Planner.
FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

When do I pick relics in Coin Tavern?

After you **clear a stage debt check**, you usually enter a ticket shop before the next target. Some rewards also grant bonus picks or refreshes.

How many relics are planned?

About **200** in the full vision. The demo included roughly **80**. New relics will expand synergies rather than replace the core shop loop.

Do relics replace gems?

No. Gems are a separate run-long layer—see Gems. Relics stack from stage shops; gems modify broader rules.

What should beginners pick first?

Flat **money safety**, **extra flips**, or **hammer economy** relics until you can clear debt reliably. Chase synergy picks after fundamentals work.
